Can I change the mobile number attached to my account?

No, your phone number is linked to your account for your security and cannot be changed.

How do I change the email attached to my account?

Go to Account on the app and change your email. Then, to access your account at, you’ll have to use the new email address.

If you have a technical problem using your app or your account, the answer should be in this Support section. If it isn’t or the answers don’t solve the issue, please contact us by emailing and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Profile, click on Account Options, then the Delete link and follow the simple steps. It’s a good idea to first print and save any reports and download and save evidence you want to keep. To avoid unwittingly reactivating your account, you should also delete the app from your phone.

Can I use my account with several devices?

It is not possible to use the same account on different devices. If you want to use the app on two phones, you’ll need to have two accounts (and these cannot both have the same email).

Privacy & Security

Can I use the app to report anonymously?

No. A report includes your name and email address so the person you send it to (be they a friend, colleague, business, journalist or the police) can get back to you. You can include your mobile (SMS) number if you wish.

Who sees my reports and my evidence?

Your account is private. If you simply secure a report, you alone see it and any attached evidence. If you send it to a colleague, friend, insurer or the police, then the recipient will see it as well. While we monitor how the App and Service are used (as set out in the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service), we do not and will not see any evidence that you secure or send.

How does the service validate my evidence?

The validation process is simple and secure. When you capture evidence or record a statement using the app, the location, date and time are logged at and secured on the Self Evident server. To combat any risk of someone doctoring evidence collected with the app, this information is only available from this service.

Please note, the validation service is unavailable for media imported from outside the app.

How is my privacy protected?

Please visit Terms and go to the Privacy Policy to see how we look after your personal information. But rest assured as your account is your private space, we don’t sell your information for marketing and there are no ads.

How secure is the service?

The Information Commissioner’s Office has reviewed the service thoroughly and confirmed that it has no concerns about it being used to report crime and other sensitive issues. You can also test the security of this service yourself at
